Goal: To re-use plastic waste lying in the desert, create jobs for local residents at the same time.
Fundraising goal by Soul Surfers Foundation: Before July 2013 the amount of € 10.000,-
Synopsis: Plastic Desert Project is a project operating in the arid coastal lands of Northern Peru. Where plastic bags pollute the desert landscape with many different colors. An unrealistic sight and a threat to life on earth and that of the oceans. Preventing it from becoming part of the already existing ‘Plastic Soup’, Soul Surfers Foundation puts effort into giving the plastic a second life while offering jobs to local people and providing educational experiences for youth.

Soul Surfers Foundation is part of: NALU Soulsurf
Goal 1: To make a real-life documentary about Soul Surfers exploring underdeveloped coastal communities, the environment and different cultures.
Fundraising goal by NALU Soulsurf (in cooperation with all the participating Soul Surfers): € 87.000,-
Synopsis: To 'encourage' surf tourists to give something back to the local underdeveloped communities they visit.
Goal 2: To spread the wealth that comes with surf tourism to those who need it the most, but are not in a position yet to work in tourism
Synopsis: To provide a hands on approach whilst filming the real-life documentary, so the project that is visited can sustainably start with the Soul Surfers on site or continue. Even after the Soul Surfers have left.
Soul Surfers Foundation supports: WAVES for Development
Goal: To provide over 10.000 hours of classes assisted by 500 volunteers, that will lead to 60% of participating youth pursuing further educational opportunities (vocal training, college) and achieving a greater health standard.

Synopsis: To empower community members, youth in particular, to pursue education activities that lead to setting career goals and living a healthy lives

Goal 1: To further strengthen the water safety skills of the Liberian Lifeguarding Association.

Synopsis: To provide local people with the essential tools to make their jobs safer and safeguard the lives of surfers, swimmers and fishermen.
Goal 2: To give the Robertsport community an anual event (Unual Liberian Surf Contest) to be proud of and call their own. This event showcases local Liberian surfing talent and encourages positive community involvement. Total programme costs: € 350,-
Synopsis: To help solidify Liberia as a country with surf and surfers and is a pedestal for Liberian surfers to be recognized internationally.

Goal: To contribute to the conservation of the environment by educating kids outside the
classroom. Total programme costs $11,436.
Donation by Soul Surfers Foundation: $1.550
Synopsis: To educate the kids of the coastal town of Lobitos about their marine and coastal environment. Kids will learn about marine species while conducting monthly monitoring of strandings in an undeveloped beach and will also learn water chemistry and physics through simple experiments that can be made in a classroom.
