The sea race for a better world!
Welcome to the Soul Surfers Foundation Paddle Round The Buoy webpage!
Here you’ll find information about the organisation, partner organisations, sponsored good causes and participation. With Paddle Round the Buoy 2009, we are hoping to organise an unforgettable day at the beach for young and old alike.
Through this day making fun, fundraising, awareness raising and the work of local sea rescue (NL), sport and development projects and environmental protection initiatives in coastal areas worldwide in the centre.

Prices for the winners!
The winner of each Paddle wins a wonderful prize.
Lottery tickets for every 5 euro's!
At the end of a sportive day a big lottery will be held. Every 5 euro's that you raise will provide you with one lottery ticket. We give away thousends of euro's worth of prizes. So the more funds you raise for Soul Surfers Foundation's projects the more chance you have to win a prize!
If you do not participate but still want to support Soul Surfers Foundation? No problem! You can buy lottery tickets at the stand and subscription desk of Soul Surfers Fouindation in surfers village F.A.S.T. or at one of the subscription desks at Surfles.nl, Golfsurfschool.nl or Hart Beach!

Participate
If you can swim, or ride/paddle any kind of non-motorised water vessel (excluding sail boats), then you are invited to join the PRTB sea-race! If you don’t want to enter the water race but still want to actively participate in the event then enter our PRTB sand-race!
Sponsorship
As a participant you should aim to raise as much money as you can through personal sponsorship. As well as supporting our good causes, for every €5,- that you raise, you will also earn one lottery ticket. On the day of the PRTB, all the lottery tickets will be entered into a draw where you will have the chance to hundreds of exciting prizes! The participant who has raised the most funds will also be awarded a great prize!
Children below 12 years must be under the supervision of, and accompanied by, an adult participant of the sea race (life vests are optional). For the sand race, all participants over the age of four are eligible to take part.
Watervessels
Watervessels must fulfill the following criteria:
  • Unmotorised
  • Powered by manpoweror
  • Powered by wind
Paddles
For each race, participants in each category will be asked to line up at the starting place.Depending on the current on the day, the PRTB will either run from the north to the south or the south to the north to enable our younger participants to take part. Participants over 6 years are welcome, as long as they have a swimming diploma. Children between 7 and 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Changes in the event of adverse weather conditions
In the event of very large waves or other adverse weather conditions, the sea-race will be cancelled and participants should bring their running shoes to take part in the ‘Paddle dry feet’ sand-race instead. If there is too little wind, windsurfers and kitesurfers can choose to paddle/stand-up paddle in the ‘Paddle non-stop’ (please note that there are only limited boards available), or alternatively change from your wetsuit to your running shoes and take part in our ‘Paddle dry feet’ sand- race!

Join the record attempt Surfers’ Cricle formation!
Bring your surfboard, SUP, sea kayak or boadyboard during the Paddle Round The Buoy event and join the record attempt Surfers’ Circle formation! We ask you to donate 1 euro for our charities if you bring your own stuff. If you do not have your own watervessel, but you do want to be part of the attempt? Rent a seakayak, surfboard, or Stand Up Paddle boards for 5 euro (this money will go to the represented charities). At 13.00 hrs we unite at beach restaurant Globbetrotter (Rechtestraat Hoek van Holland). The event organisers will explain the attempt. At 15.00 hrs all participants will paddle to form the Surfers’ Circle of Love’.
