Why are you an ambassador for Soul Surfers Foundation:
As surfers we are intrinsically linked to the ocean, the earth, the universe and after surfing all over the world, enjoying the waves and lifestyle for free for so long, I realised something was missing and that it was about time I gave something back. I met, one of the founders of Soul Surfers Foundation, Rianne, whilst coaching in Morocco and got talking to her about helping local communities through surfing and trying to make a difference. I was completely inspired by the Soul Surfer Foundation and was thrilled when they asked me to get involved. I'm looking forward to dedicating time and energy to the organisation; to travelling and using my skills to help many world issues such as poverty, environmentalism and peace. I am very grateful to Soul Surfers for this opportunity; surfing is my passion and to be able to give back through that passion makes it truly worthwhile.

Why are you an ambassador for Soul Surfers Foundation?
As a professional windsurfer and water sport athlete (Stand Up Paddle) I travel the world for competitions, travel blogs, clinics and promotional events. This is why I got to know lots of countries, languages, cultures and beautiful waves, which is a ‘richness’ in experience. I live my motto: “Dream of life, live your dream”. Unfortunately I also see a lot of poverty and underprivileged people (the good thing is though, that these people with so little resources, can be so happy; an educational moment for myself!). Through travel blogs I share my experiences with others. By living my dream I hope to inspire other people to ‘live’ their dreams. As an ambassador for Soul Surfers Foundation I can help changing the future of children in The Netherlands as well as in the rest of world who need this support so much. This is an amazing feeling and it positively influences everything I do.

Why are you an ambassador for Soul Surfers Foundation?
After travelling and surfing the coast in South America, I was really taken by the spirit of the local children in poorer areas, particularly
Ecuador and
Peru. Many of these kids, often with low self esteem, worked 10 hr days with no time to play and simply be children. I wanted to do somthing to try and help them. Through Soul surfers Foundation I found a way to contribute to the development of underprivileged children in coastal communities throughout the world.
