Clean up kids
Clean Up Kids is an initiative of surf school owners Linde Logtenberg and Hans van den Broek of Sublime Surfschool (www.surfles.nl) in Scheveningen, The Netherlands. In July 2007 the first edition of this event was organized for children between 6 and 12 years.
The idea behind the beach day is to offer a free surf lesson to children after they have showed interest in and respect for their natural environment. In 2007 40 kinds cleaned the beach in front of Sublime Surfschool and listened to the volunteers of Eco Kids.
This year Clean Up Kids will work together with the Surfrider Foundation and Soul Surfers. A special program is designed, to not only create awareness for the environment but also for the situation in which youth from coastal communities in developing countries find themselves. This year a voluntary contribution between 1 and 10 euro will be asked for the surfing lesson, of which the raised money will go to Soul Surfers Foundation & Surfrider Foundation Holland.
