 WAVES for Development
The coast of Northern Peru and its world-class surfing conditions attract people from all over the world. Unfortunately coastal communities benefit very little from this surf tourism and continue to suffer from limited educational and economic opportunities.
WAVES for Development believes that bringing together Water, Adventure, Voluntourism, Education and Sustainability (the WAVES acronym) provides an innovative solution in contributing to the sustainable development of coastal communities in developing countries. Surfing and sustainable development meet in Educational Surf Programs for disadvantaged youth and Adventure Voluntourism Programs for volunteers. International volunteers and local youth built personal, social and business skills while promoting environmental conservation and serving the community.
