  1. How di Soul Surfers Foundation start?
    Soul Surfers started her existence, because founders Rianne van Velzen and Sabine Wensink realized, during one of their surf trips, that their sport, despite the existing natural resources, could often not be practiced by the local people. Poverty, diseases, malnutrition, criminality and a bad economic situation end for many people up in just having dreams. Lack of education and knowledge are the main reasons why local people have a hard time generating money from (surf) tourism. Besides, the unpredictability of the climate is responsible for an insecure future. Rianne and Sabine thought it was about time to offer local people the possibility to use the immense playground that so many underprivileged youth have in front of their door.
  2. How can I contribute to realizing the goals of Soul Surfers?
    If you are interested in actively contributing to creating equal chances throughout the world, you can apply as a volunteer with Soul Surfers. Soul Surfers will look if your skills and/or qualifications suit the services which Soul Surfers requires at that moment. Send an e-mail to:     volunteer@soulsurfers.org.
  3. Can I do volunteer work with one of the projects of Soul Surfers abroad?
    If you are interested in volunteering at one of the projects that Soul Surfers supports you can send an e-mail in English to the project of your preference: waves@soulsurfers.org.
    For a short voluntourist experience you can contact our British partner Earth Sessions: earthsessions@soulsurfers.org.
  4. Can I book a voluntourist holiday with Soul Surfers?
    Soul Surfers official partner in tour operating is the UK based company Earth Sessions. Earth Sessions offers ethical adventure holidays. For trips of a +/- a month to the project WAVES for Development you can contact Brendan McDonald via www.earthsessions.com.
  5. If I have a good idea to raise funds for one of the projects, can I do that?
    If you have a good idea to raise funds for one of the projects you can contact Sabine Wensink at sabine@soulsurfers.org  or Saske Wentink saske@soulsurfers.org.  They will listen to your idea and perhaps even help you organize your fundraising event!
  6. My company wants to adopt a project, is that possible?
    Soul Surfers offers companies and organizations the possibility to adopt one of her projects. Your company or organization can show her interest in social responsibility through the adoption of a project. The project offers your employees the possibility to become closer involved to social development. Regular updates of the project abroad will create awareness and involvement.
